Some bad memories or embarrassing thing that ever happened in our lives it can be eliminated. Based on research conducted at Lund University in Sweden, selective memory actually exists. It allows you to train your mind to erase the embarrassing moments of the mind.

The scientists used an EEG scan to monitor parts of the brain that become active when volunteers try to forget something. In fact, when you do not want to remember bad memories of embarrassing memories that make for pressure to be unthinkable. That will cause your mind erase the memories.

The technique is useful for people who suffer from depression or post-traumatic stress disorder, in which the traumatic memories continue to live in disturbing or have adverse effects on mental health. In studies, some volunteers are trained to forget neutral information in a controlled laboratory environment. The training was conducted to forget traumatic events happen in life is more complex.

"We know that the forgotten or repressed feelings often manifest themselves as a physiological reaction. Pressing the bad memories so unthinkable with a long time can cause us to forget it entirely," said Gerd Waldhauser, one of the researchers.

Through EEG measurements, the study also captured the exact moment when the memory is inhibited, that is often forgotten. Inhibition of memory that occurs during a few hours, will make us forget to remember something.
